The MKR 485 Shield allows your MKR board to connect seamlessly to industrial systems using the RS485 protocol. This shield makes it easy to integrate your MKR board with legacy industrial systems such as PLCs, controllers, drives, and HMIs. With the MKR 485, older industrial machinery, heating systems, and conveyors can be transformed into IoT-enabled devices via a serial connection.

The shield features the MAXIM MAX3157 transceiver and supports both half and full duplex communication. The default operational mode is half duplex, making it a versatile choice for connecting to various industrial systems.
