The LNK304PN from Power Integrations is part of the LinkSwitch-TN family, designed to provide highly efficient power conversion with minimal external components. This IC integrates a 700V power MOSFET, oscillator, and control circuits in a compact DIP-7 package, making it ideal for off-line buck and flyback converter applications such as appliances, LED drivers, timers, and industrial controls. It features an auto-restart function for short-circuit protection, hysteretic thermal shutdown, and frequency jittering to reduce EMI.

The LNK304PN is designed to replace linear or capacitor-fed solutions and offers much higher performance and energy efficiency, with a system-level thermal overload, overvoltage, and short-circuit protection. It operates at 66 kHz with an accurate current limit and has a highly reliable switching cycle control mechanism to maintain efficiency and minimize cost.
